Fridley Public Schools is the first and only school district in the state of Minnesota to provide the full International Baccalaureate Programme Continuum (PYP, MYP, DP, and CP) to all PreKindergarten to Grade 12 students.

Two students jump into mobile polar plunge water.

On a chilly November day, 328 students voluntarily jumped into ice cold water as a part of the annual Cool School Mobile Polar Plunge. The Polar Plunge is a fundraising event for Special Olympics Minnesota that aims to give people with intellectual and physical disabilities the instruction and encouragement to participate in sports. Funds raised help to provide training and services to Special Olympic athletes across the state.

On Thursday, November 7, Fridley High School's Chinese Program took 88 students on an exciting field trip to the University of Minnesota (U of M). The trip, themed Career and Language, was designed to help students explore future career paths and learn about resources available to Chinese language learners.

Families with young children filled the Fridley Community Center gym on Nov. 9 for the annual Fridley Early Childhood Family Education Fall Festival. Children were greeted with multiple family oriented activities such as coloring, a pumpkin tic-tac-toe toss, a bounce house, storytime and more, helping foster their learning and development.

The Fridley High School chapter of the Minnesota Honor Society (MHS) held its annual induction ceremony for new members in the District Auditorium on Wednesday, October 23. As the 29 scholars received the distinguished honor, their family, friends, and staff watched proudly, beaming with joy.

FMS celebrated Unity Day with an assembly focused on bullying prevention and acceptance

“Check in with others to see if they are okay, check in with your friends,” advised Matthew Engelhardt referring to bullying at a Unity Day assembly for Fridley Middle School students on Oct. 24. Unity day is the signature event during National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month. Engelhardt continued, “If you see something, say something.”

According to preliminary election results, voters approved both of the questions on the ballot for Fridley Public Schools on Tuesday, November 5.

“It feels like slime!” shrieked first grade students in their classrooms at Stevenson Elementary. The slime they were referring to? The inside of a pumpkin. Students celebrated PUMPKIN days on Friday, Oct. 25 by engaging in a variety of activities including counting pumpkin seeds.
