Fridley Public Schools is the first and only school district in the state of Minnesota to provide the full International Baccalaureate Programme Continuum (PYP, MYP, DP, and CP) to all PreKindergarten to Grade 12 students.

During a staff meeting in a full FHS media center, the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) Executive Director, Bob Driver, surprised Assistant Principal Lamii Zarlee with an incredible honor. Accompanied by Lamii’s family—his mother, wife, daughters, and in-laws—Driver announced that Lamii has been named the Minnesota High School Assistant Principal of the Year for 2024-2025. The room erupted in applause, with staff giving a heartfelt standing ovation.
Fridley High School’s AVID seniors took center stage during a special Media Day on January 10. AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is an academic support program designed to prepare students for college eligibility and success.
Mary Henry exemplifies excellence in her role as Communications Specialist with Fridley Public Schools. Her diverse contributions are instrumental in maintaining effective communication and engagement across our district. Mary is a skilled designer, creating marketing materials that cater to all ages and levels, tailored for various events and informational needs. She manages the district’s social media presence, ensuring timely and relevant updates, and keeps the information on building TV monitors current and engaging.
On December 18, Fridley High School hosted its 15th Annual Extended Essay Silver Platter Celebration in the FHS Media Center. This special event brought together families, School Board Director Sara Jones, district staff, FHS administration, and selected teachers to celebrate the achievements of our IB students. The ceremony honored current 12th-grade IB Diploma candidates, the Class of 2024 IB Diploma recipients, and introduced the Extended Essays of the Class of 2025 IB Diploma candidates.

Fridley Middle School held its annual Bingo Night on Thursday, December 12, drawing an impressive crowd of about 230 attendees—the largest turnout in the event’s history.
The Tiger Club hosted its Fall Family Fun Night, an event designed to bring parents and children together for an evening of food, games, and activities. The goal was to treat families to a special dinner, showcase the program's spaces, and spend quality time together in a way that's not always possible during the year
The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire Jazz 1 band made a special visit to Fridley High School on Tuesday, December 3, giving students an unforgettable day of music and learning.
On a chilly November day, 328 students voluntarily jumped into ice cold water as a part of the annual Cool School Mobile Polar Plunge. The Polar Plunge is a fundraising event for Special Olympics Minnesota that aims to give people with intellectual and physical disabilities the instruction and encouragement to participate in sports. Funds raised help to provide training and services to Special Olympic athletes across the state.
Fridley Preschool families gathered together for the annual Preschool International Baccalaureate (IB) Night on Thursday, November 14. Approximately 30-40 families attended the evening event.
