The 66th Scholastic Achievement Ceremony on May 16 was a celebration of the culmination of academic achievement, athletic accomplishment and philanthropy shown the past four years by Fridley High School seniors. Sponsored by the Fridley Lions, students, families and donors were treated to a banquet dinner before the awards ceremony began.
The Fridley community's generous support was clearly visible throughout the ceremony. The Fridley Schools Foundation and their donors handed out scholarships totalling more than $160,000 to students.
Additionally, outside scholarships were given including the Wallin Scholarship totalling $16,000 to four students: Isaiah Watson, Riyan Ahmed, Deodatus Gbadoe and Palak Bhakta; and the Dease scholarship, a four-year, full tuition scholarship through the University of St. Thomas was given to Laura Jimenez Valez.
“We congratulate our students on their wonderful accomplishments and encourage them to continue to work hard on their journeys to success,” concluded Kelly McConville, principal of Fridley High School. “Congratulations on your awards, your scholarships, and your accomplishments. I am proud to be your principal! Go Tigers!”
