Asian Club

The second annual Asian Fair was held on May 22. Created and facilitated by members of the Asian Club, the event hosts a variety of stations showcasing Asian culture and activities. This year the fair was held just outside the auditorium allowing more students to attend during their lunch hour.

“The Asian Club members planned this event together during several meetings this year, including station ideas, materials and group responsibilities,” said FHS Chinese language teacher and Asian Club advisor Hsiao Hsuan Huang. “All group members cooperated and were able to manage stations without teacher supervision. They also helped clean up after the Asian Fair ended. They were so responsible and reliable, and I am very proud of them.”

With the exception of the South Korean KPop station, which was the most popular last year, there were five new stations. The stations gave students the opportunity to: guess which flag belongs to which Asian country, guess Asian cuisine from images and ingredients, perform dance steps holding bamboo in the Philippine Tinikling activity, play a game with a bamboo ball using their feet and legs and make their own bookmarks with a Confusius quote.

Huang wanted to be sure to thank these students for participating: Salma Ahmed, Priti Rana, Madison Arroyo Constantino, Valentina Moua, Laijia Crysta Lee, Susie Vue, Sharon Tamir, Kency Cristobal Ochoa, Catherine Leong, Kurt Cedillo, Victoria Vallin, Amina Negash and Linda Vue. She also wanted to thank Dan Wold for helping with some technical needs as well.
