Fridley, Minn. – Graduation data released today by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) shows that Fridley Public Schools (FPS) continues to make strong academic progress. The Class of 2024 achieved an 85.2% four-year graduation rate, exceeding the state average of 84.2% by a full percentage point.
This year’s state average marks a record high for Minnesota, reflecting a steady recovery from the pandemic-related dip in graduation rates seen in previous years. The Class of 2024 entered high school in fall 2020—during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic—facing unprecedented academic and social challenges. For context, Minnesota’s graduation rate in 2021 was 83.3%.
“We are incredibly proud of our Class of 2024,” said Dr. Brenda Lewis, Superintendent of Fridley Public Schools. “These students showed resilience and determination throughout their high school journey. Our staff, families, and school community worked hard to support them every step of the way—and these results reflect that shared commitment.”
Graduation rates improved statewide across nearly all racial and demographic groups, with Fridley students demonstrating strong gains and outperforming state averages in several key student groups. Highlights from the FPS Class of 2024 include:
