From exploring watercolor science to analyzing magnetic rice, Fridley Preschool students and their families enjoyed STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Night on April 28 at the Fridley Community Center. The event gave parents a look at what their young learners are discovering through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).
“This was an opportunity to show our families how the IB PYP engages our students with hands-on learning that promotes discovery and exploration,” said PYP Coordinator Karin Beckstrand. "STEM is an exciting and natural conduit for learning. Our students thrive in this inquiry- and play-based environment.”
The Fridley Preschool is the first and only preschool in Minnesota authorized to offer the IB PYP. The advantage of PYP is that it allows students to develop a strong foundation for conceptual understanding, reflection, and transdisciplinary themes.
