Sterling Arts Awards Scholarships

The Fridley Sterling Scholarship Fund was established in 1996 as a result of a special performance celebrating the sterling silver anniversary of the district’s auditorium. The program has awarded over $95,000 to graduating seniors pursuing performing, visual, or literary arts in college. The main source of the scholarship money comes from donations to the Fridley High School Alumni Choir. Scholarships are given in memory of Fridley teacher and theater director, the late Duane Georgius, who directed the first play presented in the Fridley auditorium, and the late Kay Bonner Nee, a long-time Fridley resident who was a catalyst in getting the auditorium built in 1970.

This year's scholarship recipients are: Karly Daniels-Carlson (Music Therapy and Music Education at Wartburg College) and Helen Riddle (Musical Theater at Viterbo University)
