Fridley Public Schools

Congratulations to Fridley Public Schools October 2021 Employee of the Month, Cami Herder! Herder currently serves as the Preschool Childcare Program Manager, a role she has held for four years. She was first hired by the district in 2013, and previously served as an Infant/Toddler Classroom Instructor in Tiger Club.

According to International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) Preschool Coordinator Karin Beckstrand, Herder is reflective, insightful, and shows commitment to integrity in her work with parents, colleagues, students, and staff.

“In all she does, Cami works from the heart, and strives to provide the best instruction and care for all the children in her program,” said Beckstrand.

Community Education Director Stephen Keeler said Herder’s work during the pandemic shutdown was second-to-none. “Cami was instrumental in contributing to our Governor-mandated Critical Kids Care for our students and families,” said Keeler. “She worked with great dedication to make the world feel a little bit safer and less chaotic within our childcare program.”

Keeler added that Herder’s knowledge of child development and behavior, along with her depth of caring, knows no end.

In addition, Herder has been an excellent partner to Preschool IB teachers, helping to develop and implement new ways of providing instruction and care for the youngest leaders in the district. “She continues to deepen her understanding of IB and continues to serve as a vital part of our full-day IB PYP Preschool in the childcare setting,” said Beckstrand.

As a parent of five Fridley graduates, Herder is passionate about the Fridley community and has remained highly involved, even after her children graduated from Fridley High School.

Congratulations, Cami, on this well-deserved recognition of District Employee of the Month!
