Three students and a teacher running during the fun run.

Stevenson Elementary students had fun breaking a sweat while participating in the Stevenson Fun Run on Friday, October 27. Though the fundraising event is only in its second year, the Stevenson community has quickly embraced it, with this year’s donations totaling $13,300!

“Our annual Stevenson Fun Run brings together our entire school community to both collect donations that go right back to our kids and families, as well as rally together at a team event,” said Veronica Mathison, principal of Stevenson. “The positive energy is contagious as teachers and families join our scholars in running continuous laps. This year, students collectively ran 5,216 laps.”

The money raised has already paid for school spirit shirts for all Stevenson scholars. The rest will go toward resources and materials for students, as well as covering the full costs for class field trips.

“We are incredibly grateful to all of our scholars, families and staff who supported our most successful Fun Run to date,” Mathison said. “Thank you for helping us build community and provide resources back to each and every one of our Stevenson scholars.”
