Fridley High School Silver Platter Breakfast Honors IB Diploma Programme Scholars

Fridley High School recently hosted its annual Silver Platter Breakfast, an event recognizing students in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme as they submit their Extended Essays, a key milestone in the IB journey.

The Extended Essay is a hallmark of the IB Diploma Programme, requiring students to complete an independent research project of up to 4,000 words on a topic of personal interest. Students collaborate with faculty advisors, conduct thorough research, and develop advanced writing and critical thinking skills. Globally, the Extended Essay is recognized as excellent preparation for college-level research and academic writing.

During the breakfast, students presented their completed essays on a silver platter, symbolizing months of dedication, research, and revision. This year’s projects spanned topics in literature, history, music, film, and social issues, reflecting the breadth of student curiosity and academic exploration.

The event featured remarks from Fridley High School Class of 2024 graduate Ethan Andler, who completed the Full IB Diploma Programme. Ethan reflected on how the program’s emphasis on research, writing, and time management prepared him for college.

Events like the Silver Platter Breakfast celebrate the rigor of the IB Diploma Programme and the perseverance, curiosity, and academic achievement of Fridley High School students.

Congratulations to these students! We’re proud of their hard work and dedication.
