Fridley Public Schools
School Board Appreciation Month Spotlight: Nikki Auna

For Nikki Auna, serving on the Fridley School Board is more than a position – it’s a commitment to making sure every child and every family feels like they truly belong. “I ran for the Fridley School Board because I want every student to feel supported, every family to feel heard and our community to keep growing stronger together,” she shared.

Nikki sees Fridley Public Schools as a driving force for unity and opportunity in the community. She describes the schools as not only centers of learning but also gathering places that bring people together across all backgrounds. “Fridley Public Schools positively impacts the community by creating a welcoming environment where every child belongs, supporting families through strong communication and resources, and preparing students with the skills and confidence to succeed beyond the classroom,” she said. “Our schools are not just places of learning, they are the heart of our community.”

Her dedication to students and families extends far beyond the boardroom. Nikki works daily as a paraeducator at Stevenson Elementary, where she has the opportunity to directly support and encourage students. She also gives her time to youth sports, staying connected with families on the sidelines through FYSA soccer and basketball. No matter the setting, her focus remains the same: “I focus on building trust, listening to families and making decisions that ensure every child feels supported and every family feels connected.”

Nikki’s passion for service reflects the very spirit of School Board Appreciation Month: leadership that is grounded in care for students, commitment to families, and a vision for a stronger community.
