Equity & Inclusion

Welcome to the Fridley Public Schools Equity and Inclusion Department. Our mission is to:

• Help all students achieve academic success by creating a respectful learning environment inclusive of their race, ethnicity, culture, language, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, socio-economic status, and sexual orientation.
• Provide district-wide support for student achievement by helping students, parents, teachers and staff to give priority to educational equity and cultural relevancy.
• Advocate for all students and families by providing support, community resources, and engagement opportunities.

What we do:

• Support a positive building climate that leads to educational equity, inclusion and student achievement for all students.
• Collaborate with school staff, principals and other personnel to promote student learning and achievement.
• Cultivate opportunities such as post-secondary success, engagement in service learning and connecting students and families with resources.
• Bridge support and knowledge between staff, students and families, as well as provide training opportunities to district staff.
• Serve with community agencies to partner with local business and organizations to provide the best resources to fit family's needs. (Collaboration with Social Workers)
• Develop, implement and evaluate strategies to increase cultural responsiveness.
• Meet and participate with student assistance and intervention teams by providing multiple perspectives.
• Help students and families to understand and navigate the school system; partner with parents/guardian during teacher conference to help understand student progress.
