The school district is extremely grateful to the Fridley community for its support of our students, staff and schools. By voting to renew the levy, the community affirmed its commitment to ensuring that our students receive the educational tools necessary for learning, and that the district continues to maintain a safe learning environment for students and staff. Thank you for your support! Ross Meisner wins School Board seat In addition to voting to approve the levy, Fridley voters also elected Ross Meisner to serve on the Fridley School Board. Meisner was one of three candidates vying for a seat on the Board. With his successful election, Meisner will serve for the one year remaining in the Board term of former Board member Mary Kay Delvo who resigned in June 2020. Reminder - There will be no school in session on Wednesday, November 11 due to a Staff Evaluation and Planning Day. This training was previously scheduled on Friday, November 13. Our secondary school students are now participating in full-time distance learning. Fridley Middle School, Fridley High School, and Fridley Area Learning Center students who were previously in a hybrid learning model transitioned to full-time distance learning on November 5 according to guidelines from the Minnesota Department of Health. Although homecoming looked differently this year, Fridley students and staff continued to safely celebrate the longstanding homecoming traditions! Our Stripes & Paws Hybrid students were still able to enjoy the spirited pep fests. Fridley High School hosted four pep fest opportunities which allowed for social distancing. The FHS Student Council has also organized school spirit dress-up days, which span over a two-week period from October 19-30, to allow for all students in the hybrid model to participate! The Fridley Tigers football team defeated the Mound Westonka White Hawks on Friday, October 30 with a score of 34-3! Our Hayes Elementary School Stripes & Paws Hybrid students had a blast at the Fall Fun Run! Principal Gaeli Iverson led students through the fun run course - which ended in front of the school with a dance party, loads of bubbles, and Jack the Giraffe! Hula-hoop markers provided safe, distanced spaces for all students to dance!
