Hayes Robotics LEGO League builds robotic town, imagines future of transportation Igniting curiosity, innovation, and teamwork skills, participants in Hayes Elementary's LEGO League developed and programmed fully-functioning cargo transport systems in a robotic town, presenting their creative work at their final showcase on April 14. The challenge at hand was to imagine the future of transportation, focusing on innovative, inclusive and environmentally friendly ways to transport cargo, specifically packages and mail, in the next generation. Stevenson Elementary hosts family bike-giveaway event Held in partnership with Allina Health and Bikes4Kids, Stevenson Elementary returned to its annual bike fair on April 22. Children and their parents received free bikes and brand new helmets to usher in spring! In addition, teachers and volunteers were on hand to help kids select a bike, ensure proper tire pressure and adjust seat heights. In addition to representatives from Allina Health, Fridley Police Department's Ofc. Nico Wallat, Ofc. Jason Elasky and Sgt. Patrick Faber volunteered their time to make the fair a rousing success. Fridley High School presents "Thirteen Past Midnight" Fridley High School Drama department students presented "Thirteen Past Midnight" on April 21-23 in the District Auditorium with over 300 community members attending the show. The cast consisted of 16 students, with 10 students participating on the stage, props, technical crew. "Our students did a great job of bringing the collection of eccentric characters to life," said Technical Director and Auditorium and Events Coordinator Dan Wold. "As the majority of the cast consisted of seniors, it was a fitting tribute to their last time together and final high school production." Read more |

| Justin Reese selected as Fridley High School Activities Director Fridley Public Schools is pleased to announce that Justin Reese has been hired as the district's new activities director. Reese has worked for the district since 2010 and currently serves as a behavior specialist and equity and inclusion specialist at Fridley High School (FHS). He has served as FHS head varsity coach for football and track and field since 2015, and assistant varsity boys basketball coach since 2008. Reese begins his new role on July 1. "I am humbled and grateful to step into this position and continue the Fridley activities mission of developing and inspiring excellence of our young leaders," said Reese. "The value of activities and athletics at the high school level can impact students for the rest of their lives, and I couldn't be more proud to serve in this role." Read more |

Fridley Middle School names Matthew Engelhardt as Assistant Principal Fridley Public Schools is pleased to announce that Mr. Matthew Engelhardt has been hired as the new assistant principal of Fridley Middle School. Engelhardt currently serves as the school's dean of students and is responsible for student management, staff support, activities, and important district initiatives. Engelhardt begins his new role on June 27.
"I could not be more excited to serve as the assistant principal at Fridley Middle School," said Engelhardt. "Serving in this role amongst an amazing staff, fantastic students and a caring community is everything I could ask for upon stepping into this position. I look forward to continuing to be a part of the tremendous work happening within the walls of this school and across the entire district!" he continued. Read more |

Fridley Tiger Club Childcare is accepting new enrollments for its Summer 2022 program! Are you looking for a summer program that will keep your kids entertained, challenged, and moving all summer long? Look no further! Tiger Club Summer Program is for children ENTERING grades K-6.
Each year, Tiger Club Summer activities and curriculum are planned around an overarching theme. Join us for It's a "GO TEAM" Summer as we explore units and lessons on what it means to be part of a team and different ways to be an effective and supportive team member.
Our Tiger Club students will also enjoy trips, events and activities that will challenge the mind and body and have us all cheering each other on! Every day is a new adventure! We offer: - Mini-Adventure Mondays

| Minnesota Honor Society hosting Raising Canes fundraiser to benefit homeless shelters: May 3 The Fridley Minnesota Honor Society is hosting a fundraiser at Raising Cane's in Blaine, 1560 109th Ave NE, on Tuesday, May 3 from 5 - 9 pm. The purpose of the fundraiser is to raise money to donate bottled water to homeless shelters in the Twin Cities, in partnership with the organization People Serving People. "People Serving People is an emergency shelter that helps families experiencing homelessness in Minnesota," said MHS Officer Vanessa Lor. "Our biggest goal is to help in any way we can and come together as a community to help those in need." Please note: You must mention the fundraiser with purchase to contribute toward MHS' goal. |

| Free Virtual Workshop: Mental Health and School Success Get Ready, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota's Extension program, is offering a free online family engagement workshop on Tuesday, May 10 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. called Mental Health and School Success. This event will provide parents and guardians tips on how to support their children and increase their mental well-being to succeed in school. Topic discussions will include: the meaning of mental health, how mental health influences others, the connection between well-being and learning, and how to help your children to succeed at school. |
