| Preschool STEM Night gives students hands-on learning experiences Fridley Preschool families engaged in play-based and inquiry-based learning activities at STEM Night held at the Fridley Community Center on Thursday, April 27. This is an annual event hosted by the preschool for its 3- and 4-year-old students that focuses on science, technology, engineering and math. The event is filled with hands-on activities that reflect what 4-year-old preschool students are currently learning in school and is an opportunity for 3-year-old preschool students to get a head start on what they'll experience at preschool their next year. Hayes Elementary celebrates its diverse school community in Culture Day fashion show More than 60 students participated in a Culture Day fashion show at Hayes Elementary on May 5. Students dressed in traditional regalia from their respective cultures and walked the runway in the Hayes gymnasium while the audience learned about the meaning behind their traditional dress. In addition to the fashion show, student drummers performed and a parent sang with her daughter and son. It was a great event to celebrate the Hayes community. |

FHS art students receive highest rating at MSHSL Visual Arts Competition Fridley High School visual arts students participated in the Minnesota State High School League Visual Arts Competition at Perpich Center for Arts Education on May 6. Five students received superior ratings from the judges for their work, which is the highest rating in this competition, and received a certificate and medal for their work. Congratulations to Elana Carlson, Alejandra Barriga-Valenzuela, Axel Pettis, Balram Seriram and Madison Arroyo-Constantino! |

| FHS Prom Grand March 2023 Fridley High School students owned the catwalk at the Prom Grand March on Saturday, May 6, in the District Auditorium! This fun event gave students the chance to show off their elegant and dazzling attire for friends and families before going to prom. | Fridley School Board to Enter into Contract Negotiations with Dr. Brenda Lewis as Next Superintendent At a meeting Wednesday evening, the school board of Fridley Public Schools passed a unanimous resolution to enter into contract negotiations with Dr. Brenda Lewis as the district's next superintendent. Prior to being selected for the role, Dr. Lewis participated in an initial interview on May 4 and then a day-long interview on May 8, which included discussions with scholars, parents and guardians, staff and community members, and a final interview with the school board. FSF Innovation Grant Recipients 2023 The Fridley Schools Foundation awarded more than $20,000 in innovation grants to teachers and staff in the Fridley Public School District this spring. All Fridley Public Schools employees are eligible to apply for an innovation grant. Innovation grants are intended to support creative, thoughtful ideas that benefit the students, staff, and families of Fridley Public Schools. Read more |
